Vitalis
Vivaldi - D-Day - Argus
Vitalis (born 2007) is a dark chestnut KWPN stallion who has become one of the most significant "stampeders" in modern dressage breeding. Often described as a "factory for Grand Prix horses," he is the primary successor to the Vivaldi line and has redefined the standard for uphill mechanics and elasticity.
As of March 2026, Vitalis is a 19-year-old "Super Sire" currently experiencing a massive resurgence in the world rankings as his offspring dominate the highest levels of international sport.
2025–2026 Status: The "Rocket Launch" in Rankings
In late 2025, the WBFSH Dressage Sire Rankings confirmed what many breeders had predicted: Vitalis is now an elite Top 5 sire globally.
-
World Rank #4: In a dramatic jump, Vitalis moved from 11th place in 2024 to 4th place in 2025/2026, trailing only the legendary Johnson, Totilas, and Quaterback.
-
Grand Prix Dominance: This surge is driven by the sheer number of his offspring competing at the 5* Grand Prix level. Notably, Vamos Amigos (ridden by Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour) and Valesco (ridden by Fabienne Müller-Lütkemeier) have become podium regulars on the world stage.
-
Active Breeding: He remains a cornerstone of the Gestüt Schockemöhle roster. Despite his age, his fertility remains high, and he is a top choice for breeders seeking to "fix" movement issues in their mares.
