Maracana

Maracaná (born 2015) is a striking black Westphalian stallion who was once the most expensive horse ever sold at the Westphalian licensing. Standing at 178 cm (17.2 hh), he is a "giant" of modern dressage, known for his long-legged, noble silhouette and extreme movement quality.

As of early 2026, Maracaná has entered a new chapter of his career following his sale to Australia in mid-2023, where he serves as a flagship sire for the Southern Hemisphere.

A Career of Superlatives

Maracaná’s path has been one of high stakes and high scores, though not without the occasional hurdle:

• The 700,000 € Auction (2017): He was the sensation of the Westphalian licensing, where Gestüt Bonhomme outbid the competition in a dramatic auction to secure him for 700,000 €.

• Sport Test Champion (2019): He lived up to the price tag by winning the sport test in Verden with a score of 8.62, receiving 8.8 for walk, rideability, and general impression.

• Bundeschampionat Qualification: He qualified for the German Federal Championships multiple times with dream scores as high as 9.4, including a 10.0 for submissiveness (permeability).

• International Youngster Tour (2020–2021): Under Lena Waldmann, he won the international youngster tour at the CDI Hagen with a massive 86.60%.
