Comme Il Faut

Comme Il Faut (born 2005) is a bay Westphalian stallion standing at 1.65m.  In 2026, he is a retired sport legend whose legacy is being redefined by his offspring—most notably the Olympic Gold medalist Checker 47.

Comme Il Faut was perhaps the most exciting horse of his era to watch. Despite his relatively small stature, his athleticism and "rubber-ball" jumping style under Marcus Ehning made him an international icon:

• Vice European Champion: He reached the pinnacle of his career in 2019, securing Team Silver and 5th place individually at the European Championships in Rotterdam.

• Global Grand Prix Winner: His resume includes victories in the CSI5 World Cup in Madrid*, the CSI5 Brussels Masters*, and the Nations Cup in Falsterbo.

• Emotional Retirement: He was officially retired from sport in a moving ceremony at the 2021 European Championships in Riesenbeck, where he delivered one last spirited lap of honor, bucking and playing just as he did as a youngster.
