Chalan
Chambertin - Carolus I - Calypso I
Chalan (born 1998) is a distinguished dark bay Holsteiner stallion standing at 1.69m. While often overshadowed by his world-famous half-brother Chacco-Blue, Chalan carved out his own legacy as a "style master" and a heavy-hitter in the jumping ring.
Chalan was the definition of a "beautiful" jumper—effortless, rhythmic, and technically flawless. He was one of the few stallions to excel equally in the subjective world of "style" and the objective world of international Grand Prix:
-
The Hamburg Derby Triumph: His most iconic moment came in 2007 when he won the North German Championship at the legendary Hamburg Derby under Hendrik Sosath.
-
Sires of the World: He proved his global standing by taking 3rd place in the "Sires of the World" jumping test in Lanaken.
-
HLP Record: Chalan was the undisputed winner of his 30-day test in Prussendorf (2001), achieving the highest index in both dressage and jumping, a testament to his exceptional rideability and gaits.
-
The American Chapter: Later in his career, he was sold to California, where he continued to compete successfully in 1.60m Grand Prix classes with a junior rider, proving his incredible character and "amateur-friendly" brain.
